The chants of the Vigils had been written during 1993-1995. Following my churching and familiarization with spiritual texts, their words set themselves to music in my mind. This is often the case with me. So, gradually, over    a period of two years, a 14-part cycle came into being.
Initially, the chants were intended for concert performance, not for service. This was my first work which I could unashamedly show to musicians and listeners. Six parts had been composed for testing in late 1993 and fell into

the hands, I don't know how, of an editor of one of the programs on the Orpheus radio.

Thus it gave birth to the author's program Sky of the Last Supper dedicated to my creative work.

This went on the air in January 1994.
More details on the Chants and their subsequent life are available in the article by Yevgenia Chigaryova "Faith, creativity and fate" presented on the site.
